Calculate 84 AI: the AI graphing calculator app that scans handwritten math and shows the keystrokes

Calculate 84 AI is an AI-enhanced graphing calculator app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, published by Fredinax Tech LLC and intended for use with TI-84. It scans a worksheet, a data table or a handwritten equation and sets up the calculator, and its AI tutor answers by text or voice with numbered steps and the real keys. A handwritten multi-line formula is read correctly in under 5 seconds.

What the app does

Calculate 84 AI is a complete graphing calculator with an AI layer on top. The calculator is intended for use with TI-84, so the key sequences it shows are the ones students practice in class. The AI helps with the step that costs students the most time: getting a problem from paper onto the calculator and knowing which keys to press next.

The AI takes over the typing, not the thinking. The scanner reads the math from a photo and sets up the calculator: data goes into lists, equations into Y=, and the window fits the graph. The student reviews the setup before tapping Insert. The tutor explains how to do a task on the calculator, step by step, so the student presses the keys and learns the sequence along the way.

Like any AI, it can be wrong. Its output can be inaccurate or incomplete, so important results deserve a quick plausibility check: Is the sign of the result reasonable? Does the zero really lie on the graph? Working through the steps once by hand is the most reliable check of all.

Key features

  • AI math scanner: photograph a worksheet, a data table or a handwritten expression. Data tables fill the list editor, equations are typed into Y=, and the graphing window adjusts to the math. Review the setup and tap Insert.
  • AI tutor by text or voice: ask, for example, how two graphs intersect, or hold the microphone and speak the question. The answer comes as numbered steps with the real keys as tappable chips, and a tap on a chip opens the right menu.
  • Smarter math input: exact derivatives and integrals, fraction templates, scientific notation and every catalog command are understood.
  • Graphing: functions, inequalities, parametric, polar and sequence equations. Find intersections, zeros, minima and maxima on the graph, calculate derivatives and integrals, and set colors and line styles.
  • Statistics and probability: every regression from linear to logistic, the normal, binomial, Poisson, t and chi-square distributions, and forms for hypothesis tests and confidence intervals.
  • Solvers: a numeric equation solver, a polynomial root finder, a solver for systems of equations, matrices with rref, determinants and inverses, and a finance solver for TVM and amortization.
  • Exact and decimal answers: toggle exact or decimal results, work with fractions and mixed numbers, switch between degrees and radians, and reuse past entries from the home screen.
  • Textbook display: stacked fractions, real root signs and readable long results, a searchable catalog that explains every command, screen sharing as an image, and themes including Calc AI.

Who it is for

  • High school and college students in algebra, precalculus, calculus and statistics, and students preparing for the SAT and ACT, who want to see the key sequence, not only the result.
  • Students new to graphing calculators who want a guided start before they learn the menus on their own.
  • Parents who help with homework and no longer remember where a command lives.
  • Teachers who want to project a graphing calculator in class.
  • Anyone who needs a graphing calculator on the phone, the iPad or the Mac.

The app is built for homework and practice. Students who want to understand their own handheld calculator from the ground up are better served by a guidebook for their exact model; which calculator guide do I need helps with that choice. For tests, check your exam rules before test day, and if a physical calculator is required, practice the same keystrokes on it.

Availability

Calculate 84 AI runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac and is available on the App Store. It is free to try with a number of scans and tutor questions included. The Plus and Pro subscriptions add many more, and a one-time purchase unlocks the calculator for good. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be managed or canceled in the Apple Account settings.

The app collects aggregate usage data such as sessions and screens viewed, but no names or email addresses; details are in the privacy policy. Support, the FAQ and the terms of use are on the Calculate 84 AI page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Calculate 84 AI made by Texas Instruments?

No. Calculate 84 AI is developed by Fredinax Tech LLC and is intended for use with TI-84. Fredinax Tech is not affiliated with Texas Instruments.

Does Calculate 84 AI solve the problem for me?

It sets up the calculator from the scan and explains which keys to press, but you run the calculation yourself. That way you learn the key sequence instead of copying a result.

Can Calculate 84 AI read handwriting?

Yes. The scanner reads handwritten and printed math, including worksheets and data tables, and you review the setup before you tap Insert.

Does Calculate 84 AI run on a Mac?

Yes. Calculate 84 AI runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac and is available on the App Store.

Can I use Calculate 84 AI on a test?

That depends on the rules of your school, teacher or exam provider. Check them before test day.

Are the AI answers always correct?

No. AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete, so check important results, for example by working through the steps yourself.
